We fabricated and installed listening pods for the Life Echo exhibition at BOM (Birmingham Open Media).
Visitors are invited to nestle into the pods and listen to the ‘life echoes’ – sound memories – of other people. The project is led by artist Justin Wiggin, who has worked with people living with dementia to see how sound can have an impact on memory, communication and interaction.
Life Echo continues until 28 January 2017. Entry is free.
The Wind in the Willows set for The Old Rep requires a steel-frame, strong enough for actors to climb over whilst still looking visually in-keeping with the rest of the production.
We worked with RoomFood to fabricate this frame, which was then painted in the Plane Structure workshop. It’s now all ready for rehearsals to begin!
Plane Structure is building the set for The Old Rep’s Christmas show, The Wind in the Willows.
My favourite element is this boat: it’s formed of plywood, which we have stained white on the exterior and with an oak-effect on the interior. I couldn’t resist having a little sit before it was delivered last week…
EAST MEETS WEST at The Waterhall, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, presents the work of 16 emerging artists working with moving image or photography. Plane Structure managed the installation of this exhibition, which continues until 6 January.

This bar is actually a theatre set for Stratford-upon-Avon’s Bearpit Theatre Company. Its knock down construction makes it easy to transport and install. It was actually specified that it needs to fit in the back of a Mini Clubman for touring!
